Being employed as a mental health worker has many positives that go a long with the job, as you can make a difference by helping those trying to overcome serious mental health issues.

However, it can be hard to find work as a mental health worker if you don't have a college degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.

If you want to get a taste of what it's like to be a mental health worker but don't have a degree, you can do volunteer work working with those struggling with mental illness.

For example, I used to be a member of a social club for those with mental illness. And they had one program where if one of the members was in a mental hospital, and if that person wanted someone to talk to for a while in the hospital, you could, as a volunteer, go to the hospital and visit with the person for an hour or so, as some people in mental hospitals find it therapeutic to discuss their issues with someone.

So if you want to be a mental health worker but don't have a degree, you can be a mental health worker as a volunteer and gain valuable experience in the process.
