Hello everyone. This is my first time here, in fact it's my first time on any forum.
I have suffered from social anxiety on and off for 10 years, but over the last 2 weeks it has turned into full blown anxiety.
I had a bad anxiety attack just over a week ago and since then it feels like I'm in constent fear of having another, which unfortunately did happen.
My doctor has prescribed 2mg of diazepam and I am waiting for a phone assessment for therepy. I find it hard to talk to people so hopefully I can find some support here while also trying to support others.

I’m so sorry to hear about your struggles. I know it’s not easy to go through anxiety. It’s good you’re getting help. What’s triggering your anxiety? Thank you for your kind words and prayers.
I don't really know the root cause of my anxiety.
I had a pretty rough childhood and never felt like I fitted in.
I used alcahol to numb the feelings and that nearly killed me.
I got sober 1 month before the birth of my son, and am now 10 years sober which is amazing, but now all the things I hid are back to haunt me. My 1st panic attack was triggered because it felt like I forgot how to swallow, and thought I was chokeing.
Now it seems I'm constantly anxious about being anxious.
I'm now on day 3 of medication, and forums like this have helped me to start reconnecting with the outside world.

Hello MaryroseOC. Welcome.
Sorry to hear you are going through a tough time, and well done for asking for help, it took me a long time to ask for help and even then i only did it because it got so bad i couldnt hide it anymore.
If you can, start a new thread on the welcome page so more people can see it. I know how hard it is, but you are not alone.
Joining a forum was great for me because I no longer feel so isolated. I still can't believe I'm actually communicating with people I haven't met, as this seemed impossible a few days ago.
I hope you find all the help and support you need.
