Side effects of coming off hormones?

Hi everyone,
I'm going off my contraceptive because I've read that hormones actually affect moods really hectically. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've heard of some people reacting badly when they first go on hormones, but I've been taking them for almost 20 years so I wouldn't know!
