Hi Online! Welcome to the forum!
Talking definitely helps. Well, it certainly did for me. I hope this forum can help you as much as it helped me. :)

Hi Lawley and welcome :)
Yep, that's one of anxiety's favourite tricks. The basic scientific explanation for this is that when the Amygdala (emotions) fires up, it overrides the Cortex (thoughts). So in a way you are losing your mind but only temporarily. From an evolutionary viewpoint it makes a lot of sense because when your life is in danger, you need to act as fast as possible, so you don't want to stand there thinking about what to do. The problem is our bodies haven't caught on to the fact that our lives are rarely in danger these days, so the fight/flight mechanism goes off at inappropriate times and this can turn into a debilitating disorder.
Learning about what's happening in your mind and body is a good start. A few people here have gotten a lot out of anxietycentre.com so maybe take a look at that (I personally don't agree with some of the stuff on there). There are also lots of excellent books - The DARE Response by Barry McDonagh is one. Claire Weekes is also great.
All the best,
Gypsy x

Thanks for the welcome :) I have tried to start a new thread in the general discussion, but it does not appear? I've tried twice and it doesn't work.

I can post but maybe newer members can't.

That's interesting. I had a quick look at some other members who posted in the welcome section, just on page1 so most recent, seems a lot only have one post and that's it. I did notice that Rick(amateur) is a recent new account, and made a new thread. He did have 13posts at the time, so maybe there is a 10 post limit for the forums before you can start a new thread? I can try replying in one of the general threads to be sure I'm not just limited to welcome section only if that helps.

Right, I posted in a sticky thread, have not tried posting in a non sticky thread, but the sticky thread post went through. I did find this post here, this person only has one post and can start thread in the general section

Okay, I tried to post a longer post, even in here, but it seems I then get the message 'thank you for posting. a moderator will soon bla bla bla and then it becomes visible or something'. So, it was the length of my post it seems. I shall try a shorter post in the general section.
Just editing this, I made a post in the general section and it worked. Seems there is a word and/or character limit. I assume this is for new members who are below a certain post count or have not been 'approved'. Okay but yeah, that at least I can post something!
