View Full Version : Zoloft isn't effective anymore?

I've been on Zoloft for years for anxiety and depression. I was on 50mg and felt I needed a little "boost" so my doctor increased my dose to 75mg, then 100mg. I've been on 100mg for 13 weeks now and feel worse than I did on 50mg. I find this odd because I expected to at least feel a little better. My anxiety is pretty much constant now and I've been having bouts of depression I haven't felt in years.

Does it sounds like I need to try a new SSRI altogether? Anyone else experience this and what did you end up doing?

Welcome to the forum. I would tell your physician that it is not working, so he may put you on another medication to see if it works. Sometimes it is trial and error until you find something that works for you.

Hi and welcome :)

I'm finding the same with Prozac at the moment. I've been on and off various SSRIs for 20+ years now.. They all seem to lose their effectiveness and I've never had much success with increased dosages.

Good luck and as Kirk says, talk to your doctor about it.

All the best,

All antidepressants poop out eventually.

I concur with others, almost all SSRIs will "poop out" eventually. If you're at 100mg a day of Zoloft you've needed a change for a while, that's a heavy dosage to be taking while feeling like crap for 13 weeks. It's time to change to a more effective medication.

This happened to me with Zoloft. Stopped working efficiently after taking for 15 years. I tried different dosages, felt better for a couple days,
then back to feeling terrible again. I wonder if manufacturers are changing the formulas a little and that's causing different negative outcomes.
