Valium for PD and GAD

Is anyone here on valium for anxiety and panic? If yes, how long have you been on it and how much do you take? TIA for any replies.

The benzodiazepines (BZDs) can be very effective anti anxiety meds. However, doctors are becoming increasingly unwilling to prescribe them because of the 'addiction' hysteria (strangely they don't seem as concerned with antidepressant dependency even though some can be at least as difficult to quit as BZDs), so, imho, they can no longer be considered good primary, taken daily anti anxiety meds. Antidepressants are likely to be better long-term bets. However, they still have a place treating occasional anxiety, though the shorter acting BZDs would be better in that role as washout periods will occur more often (it can take up to 41 days for Valium and its active metabolites to be completely eliminated).
