Hello all, my name is Kelly.

I have suffered from anxiety and depression on and off for the past four years. At its worst, I was having panic attacks everyday and was forced to take a break from my internship to move cross-country back home to get medical treatment. I have tried many coping methods (as most of you probably have) and find that while medication helped most, I could often manage by doing other activities like meditation and distracting myself with puzzles. Very recently (in the past few months) I have been able to come off my medication. Panic attacks have been few and far between, depression is light, and overall, I'm doing well.

I am a product designer in senior year and am designing a product specifically for helping people cope with anxiety and depression. However, this product cannot exist without a good amount of research and feedback.

Ideally I would like to know:

1. age range/gender
2. Mild/moderate/severe anxiety and or depression
3. What coping methods work best for you?

Basically, I'm looking to get a good range of feedback on what methods work best for coping. The more feedback and research I can get, the better and more focused my project will be. Thank you all so much in advance!

Hi Kelly :)

Ok..

1. 43yo, female
2. Severe anxiety/moderate depression
3. Medication, talking (to therapist, friends, people online), "exposure" to fears (my main thing is social anxiety and lack of confidence, so exposure = forcing myself to go out and be around people).

Cheers,
Gypsy x

1. Male, 22
2. Moderate depression and sometimes severe anxiety (I have been medicated so it is not that bad).
3. Counseling, pushing comfort zones without pressuring myself--otherwise I get more anxious, exercise, yoga. Having friends. Telling myself I am safe, medication.

Good Luck!

Hey kmiddle.

I am 23 y/o male
Mild intermittent depression- Moderate to high anxiety
For depression meditation works very well and so does St Johns Wort ( I personally refuse anti depressants)
For anxiety as needed propranolol for panic attacks, getting out in nature, Cognitive behavioural therapy all work pretty well

Glad to hear you are out of the hole!
