I am prescribed 0.5mg Klonopin once a day as needed. I usually cut them in half. Last night, I was feeling some anxiety/panicky feelings around 8ish, so I took one. I woke up this morning and had some bad anxiety/panicky feelings again, so I took the other half.

Has anyone else experienced this from Klonopin?

There's nothing wrong with Klonopin. It stays in the body about 6 hours before effects wear off. So you feel anxiety again in the morning.

0.5 is a low dose. You can safety raise to 1.0 daily

I wish my doc would up my dosage or quantity...but he keeps trying to give me Lexapro, which I've heard horrible things about. But I will definitely consider taking a full .5mg or more.

Mine tells me that I can go up to a 1 mg a day, but I chose not to. Boo Bas is right , 6 hours and the medication is wearing off. It is completely normal to wake up with anxiety, it happens to everyone from time to time

I read in a pharmacy manual that the initial dose is .25mg, twice a day, the maintenance dose is 1mg per day and the maximum dose
is 4mg per day for panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia. It can also be used to treat seizures.

That's a good point Dahila re anxiety being a normal part of life. Keep strong in your intention to take back control of your life. You are doing well despite what the quacks and others may imply. Side note ... I still have the captain on ignore ... I hope is the same for you. Don't even bother with "view post." Extremely bias being in the pharmaceutical field. Basically it knows nothing other than the quick fix mentality. The captain is easy to see through. Even the younger ones will eventually work that much out.

Again ... congratz to you for the steps you have made.

I catch up later in my other thread ...srry you for what you are currently going through - none the less, is inspiring the choices you now make.

The others will do as they will. Let Captain Kirk hand out the pills.

That makes sense I suppose; the 6 hours and it wears off. It's just never happened before like that, so of course I got nervous and it made it worse.

Ponder, please keep me on ignore as you never have anything relevant to say anyway and please leave me alone.

D. I hear you, I do:) DarthGeorge have you ever try some herbals, or meditation? Both are pretty effective, the goal of meditation is not to help with the monkey mind and anxiety but it will show some side effect like: sleep, calmness, looking at oneself from different perspective. People who meditate have better , happier life. If you do not know how to start it, look at youtube for Jon Kabat-Zinn ; guided meditation. Please give it a chance :))
