Hi guys! I have panic disorder since 5 years and my doc put me on 20mg Paroxetine and this was working just fine...after some stressfull events the med stopped working and the anxiety and panic kicked again and after some months my doc decided to switch medication.
So now it's two weeks that i'm on 10mg of Brintellix (while tapering Paroxetine from 20mg to 10mg), i'm somehow better but there are certain days where i'm still really panicky.
So my question is: is anyone else trying this med? Does it work for u? Brintellix is new on the market so i'm somehow worried :(

Hi and welcome here :)
I've never been on this but I'm always interested in meds so I googled it and can't even find much info on it. Is it an SSRI like Paroxetine/Zoloft/Prozac etc? If you've been on it for two weeks and you're ok I wouldn't worry too much but yeah I'm curious about this myself.
Cheers,
Gypsy x

I did some reading and every place it says it is used to treat major depressive disorder. I didn't see much on there about how it works for anxiety. Maybe they only studied it for depression, but give it a try and see if it helps your anxiety too. Apparently they have to change the name from Brintellix to Trintellix because it sounded too much like another drug with a similar name.

Yeah, it's a new type of SSRI it's a new family of them beacuse it acts somehow on different receptors. I'm worried because the clinical studies for the treatment of anxiety are somehow conflicting.

Thanks Anne and Tony.
The studies on even the SSRIs are conflicting, let alone newer meds. I've had good experiences with SSRIs in that they've got me out of some really bad episodes of depression/anxiety but I'm skeptical about how well they work long-term.
Anyway, let us know how you go.. The thing is, everyone is so different in terms of brain chemistry..

A personal update: this stuff, at least for me, does not work...zero improvments on anxiety and panic...zero. I'm now on 15mg since months and i did not see any benefit. My personal and not medical advice is to stick to older SSRI.
Paroxetine is more for anxiety and less for depression, while Brintellix is for depression according to my wife who is a pharmacist.

Yeah, actually i was on paroxetine but after some years it stopped working. Brintellix showed mixed results in clinical trial regarding anxiety...sometimes it worked sometimes it did not, that' s why it did not been approved by FDA for anxiety, but it' s used "off-label" for it and i have known some people in others forum that enjoyed it...but on me it does not look to work.

I have been on Brintellix/Trintellix for more than a month now. I was prescribed for major depressive disorder. It has worked very well curbing my depression. I was previously on lexapro however that discontinued to work after about a year. I have noticed that while on Trintellix my anxiety has possibly increased. I find myself chattering my teeth, biting my mouth, and a constant hovering anxiety. It really has been tough dealing with this anxiety as it makes going to work or the gym feel impossible. I do not see this being an efficient medicine for anxiety but for depression it has been great.
