Hi, I'm Lauren and I've been suffering with anxiety for around three years. Now, its completely taken over my life. I am just about managing to go to work but everything else is either extremely difficult or feels impossible! I am taking anti-depressants as it totally gets me down, and have just started face to face CBT treatment which I am very nervous about! Looking forward to hopefully talking to people in the same boat! Need some support and help, finding it all really hard! Thanks !

I think between the medication and the therapy, you will overcome this and get back on track.

Hey lauren11,

The CBT should help considerably, in time, but for the moment you may wish to view my previous post about Generalised Anxiety Disorder at http://anxietyforum.net/forum/showthread.php?33964-New-to-the-site-and-looking-for-help&p=223989#post223989

Give the Meridian Tapping Technique / EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. It is free via mercola.com or www.tapping.com (13 free videos), or www.eftuniverse.com or www.emofree.com or one of the many YouTube videos. Google: "YouTube; EFT videos".
Professionally instructed is generally preferable (Google: therapists; EFT; [your location] or mercola.com has a locator). - There is a version for use in public places at http://eft.mercola.com (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you employ the acupressure massage / tapping on your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising: saying it to yourself in your mind: "Even though I have anxiety, I deeply and completely accept myself)." or words of your own choosing.

When you feel more in control of your anxiety, wean off antidepressants / anxiolytics at 10% weekly, or download the free Ebook from http://theroadback.org

Hi Lauren,

Good luck, you can do this! I treated people by using CBT and saw some great results. Wish you all the best!

Hi Lauren,

Good luck, you can do this! I treated people by using CBT and saw some great results. I understand that you are nervous, but you took the first step, so go for it! Wish you all the best.
