I've been taking citalopram for about 3 weeks now and last week my doctor prescribed me some flexeril for muscle tightness. The pharmacist mentioned a condition called serotonin syndrome can occur when combining the two but said it is very, very rare. My question, is anyone here using this combination? If so, any weird side effects?
Thanks,

Not a very common combination but since you had muscle tightness you were prescribed flexeril. You can either ask the pharmacist to run them through their computer (the drug combinations to see if there are any warnings) or look up on the internet, drug interactions. It all depends on the dosages you are taking, more likely to have SSRI if the dosages are higher

I meant more likely to have serotonin syndrome with the higher dosages.

The pharmacist did mention it to me as a warning but said is was very, very rare. I am currently on 10mg dose of celexa which is supposedly the lowest dose prescribed. We'll see how it goes!

Serotonin syndrome is not as dreadful as people fear. I got it adding mirtazapine to cymbalta. Extreme agitation and restlessness, crampy feeling in legs. Took a benzo and it went. Needless to say I cant take mirtazapine

Well, I finally took the combo. 10mg of celexa with 5mg of Flexeril and nothing bad happened! Hooray!
