As a medical practitioner I have used medications on patients for over 30yrs. Unfortunately doctors do not have the time to go into depth a patient's issues, and a drug is an easy response. The newer antidepressents are OK in a select few, but they have major drawbacks, after all you are modifying the brain! chemistry.
The commonest side effects were tiredness, occass an increase anxiety, but most of all the blunting of normal emotional response.

There is no reason in my opinion for widespread use.

Essentially there is real important things that could be changed first
-self-esteem
-lifestyle
-coming to terms with the past
-resilience
-compulsive behaviours

In my practice now I work on these things, all the while stressing the "power within" that can resolve most anxiety depression if people know how to use it. Even to know one can use it.

Welcome to the Anxiety Forum - A Home for Those with Anxiety, Fear, or Panic Attacks.

Hello "Doctor." Please take the time to view the above forum logo and read it's mission statement. This forum is a peer based forum for suffers. We understand that professionals like yourself are not immune to anxiety, fear or panic attacks. It is however a conflict of interest and one that we find brings more contention than not, when practitioners come into the fold making whatever claims whilst identifying as anything other than a peer.

We would be happy to hear you start over again, but more so from a context that shares from a position that talks about your own sufferings and experiences minus the PHD and professional identity.

Again, this place works much more effectively from a peer based perspective.

So, what are you suffering from and how long have you been suffering? How is it that medications have worked or not worked for you? Remember - leave your hat at the door. TY.

Welcome but this is not doctor's forum, rather the opposite, some of us have a lot of knowledge about medicine (I has spend my life in hospitals) As Ponder said , you are suffering come here and talk to us, we provide support, but if you came to get people into paid therapy of yours or to buy your book................rather try to get out your story than start to intimidate people in your first post. I may be wrong. Welcome

What new a doc can tell me, I am in panic attack mode right now. High heartbeat, bp ok, especially after clonazepam and ativan :))) ......................
