Hi everyone. I'm new here and need some help. I have had anxiety for years and I'm trying to get it under control. I am taking bupropion SR 150 mg twice a day. I've been on the medication for 12 days. I'm noticing short-term memory loss. I can be thinking of something I need to do in just a few minutes but when it comes time to do it I cannot remember what it was I was going to do. This is very frustrating. Does this go away? I only have anxiety if I have to go to an event or have plans in the future. I'm fine during normal everyday living. I'm wondering if I need to be medicated every day for something that doesn't occur every day or is there something you can take only when you need it such as traveling out of town or going to a special event.
TIA

I'm surprised you were given that medication if you're only experiencing occasional bouts of anxiety. I would see another doctor and seek a second opinion. Some people have said that the Wellbutrin (brand name) doesn't help that much with anxiety as other medications too. There are some medications you can take on occasion but doctors may be reluctant to give them to you because
they can be addictive. I took one 150 mg Wellbutrin and didn't sleep for 48 hours. It made me so hyper!

Yeah Wellbutrin can make people anxious--its a very stimulating antidepressant.
Ik if this actually warrants changing doctors. If you switch to an SSRI or SNRI it's possible that you both won't feel depressed, and you won't have that anxiety. Those drugs work against anxiety. Wellbutrin is more about reducing drug cravings, being stimulating, and being very useful as an antidepressant in bipolar people. It doesn't sound to me though that it's working for you.
