Hello! I'm Jennifer. I'm 31 and I live on Long Island, NY. I was diagnosed with GAD and major depressive disorder. I was recently hospitalized for a suicide attempt, but I'm doing a bit better now. Still struggling, but I'm determined to stay out of the hospital if I can.

I figure the feelings will subside better if I talk about them, so I guess that's why I'm here.

Hey Jen,

That sounds awful. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Talking has always helped me, too, so I think you did the right thing joining. :)

What kind of coping mechanisms are you using at the moment?

Writing, coloring, crochet, anything that keeps my hands busy really.

Hello and Welcome Jen. That's the ticket. I know sharing like so has really helped me. I know a little of where your coming from. It's great to have distractions with whatever hobbies, however I am all for writing about those feelings we often find hard to face. I have found this forum excellent when it comes to making mine own threads and writing till my hearts content. Extreme emotions and all. I made many good friends in that process, received a lot of support and best of all, whilst I too still struggle; I am much more optimistic and content than when I first arrived.

Here's to you sharing as you will and finding healing along the way. There are a LOT of patient, special and undertanding people in this place, but none so more than those of us prepared to write about those things drive us insane.

Sincerely wishing you the very best, in finding and doing what works for you.

I'm Dave.

I try to keep myself busy by going to my support groups, appointments ,CBT. Literally anything to keep me from having another breakdown. I seriously need a hobby or a job. Oops wrong Jen lol
