Hi folks,

I went to the doctor this morning, was in a right state, crying and everything. I told him I don't feel in control of my thoughts, emotions and moods anymore. It feels like someone has taken over or there's a devil sitting on my shoulder talking constant rubbish and filling my head with nonsense.

He has put me on Venlafaxine and also Quetiapine. The first one is an anti depressant for major depressive disorder, anxiety & panic. The second is an anti psychotic drug which also helps you sleep. He said both of these should help settle me down, and help with my racing, irrational thoughts.

I've to go back the week after Xmas to update them on how the tablets are helping me. I'm hoping these help as my previous anti depressants didn't do anything for me in the long run.

Fingers crossed.

I think these are going to be very helpful for you. The second one is a mood stabilizer and it has helped many people.

Thank you Anne. A few spells of anxiety today, but I think that may be because I've switched tablets. Other than that, I've been okay. Fingers crossed.

Quetiapine, marketed as Seroquel, is an atypical antipsychotic approved for the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and along with an antidepressant to treat major depressive disorder. It is also sometimes used as a sleep aid because of its sedating effect but this use is not recommended.

Annual sales are approximately $1.3 billion worldwide.Quetiapine was developed by AstraZeneca from 1992 to 1996. It was first approved by the FDA in 1997. There are now several generic versions. My doc put me on it, but I had never buy them. There a major side effect and you have to be on it, not on and off but all the time.
Venlafaxine yes, but seroquel gives so many side effects and mess up with the histamine in your body. Too risky, docs like to write the script for it, they do not take it.

They say lots of things :) Some valid, some not. Much of the informaton requires personal experimentation; however do so at your own risk. Forgive me it my previoius post comes off to athortative. I only mean to share my own experiance, plus link those of others. Medication can be a sensative issue for me, mostly because of the negatvie impact It mosly has on me.

Best wishes with whatever route you choose to take.
