I'm new to these forums.

I have been taking Zyprexa for about 4 or 5 years, and now I am trying to taper off with my psychiatrist's supervision. I was on 2.5 mg per day, but now I am on 1.25 mg per day.

It's hard. I feel nauseous basically every day, and the nausea gets better when I take Zyprexa. I feel anxious, but that is less clearly connected to Zyprexa. I am always anxious.

I don't think the Zyprexa is helping anymore, and I am not sure that it was ever helpful. My doctor and I are worried about tardive dyskinesia, which can be permanent. I have an abnormal heart rhythm (long QT), probably from the Zyprexa, and it could cause sudden death in theory. My heart should be fine when I get off Zyprexa.

Sometimes I sleep over 12 hours, and other times I can't sleep at all. My brain chemistry is in turmoil.

2.5 mg is the smallest Zyprexa pill, and if you split them you are not supposed to take the second half. I am thinking of asking for Risperdal, because it comes as a liquid. Maybe I can switch from Zyprexa to Risperdal liquid and taper off from that.
