Hey guys, wondering if anyone can relate to me/has any experience with binge drinking totally screwing with your meds.
I've been on Cipralex (which I think is the same as Lexapro?) for about two months now and it's been a godsend -> totally got rid of my anxiety and depression, and it started working after only about a week. I've drank a few times on my medication (like 1 or 2 drinks one night a week) and had no problems, but I got a bit too confident and overdid it on Friday. I'm not even sure how many drinks I had but it was upwards of 10 -> I totally blacked out and was drunk until noon the next day. Since then it feels like my meds are completely useless. I can't sleep, i have crazy anxiety, I'm convinced there's something wrong with my liver (since I took tylenol the morning after drinking) and just generally I feel so out of it and weird =( -> pretty much exactly how I did before I started taking my ADs. Plus I'm SOOOO drowsy. I called my doc and explained what happened and she said it's normal, my body needs to metabolize everything and my liver filtered out all my meds etc. and that I'll be fine in five days. Well it's been four and I still feel horrible, I haven't felt any improvement. Has anyone had a similar experience to share? How long did it take for the meds to kick back in? How did it feel when they did?

Okay yes I am aware.
But what's done is done and I'm looking for advice/reassurance for where I'm at now. I won't be drinking in the future on medication, let alone binging.

Well you just need to let your body do its thing and let all that crap leave your body.

Stay hydrated and be patient.

Alcohol is powerful stuff and fucks your shit up like nothing else. You need to give your body time to do its job, try not to freak out and be patient.

It takes medication four to 8 weeks to really start working, so if you still have some anxiety, it's because it hasn't really peaked yet. By the end of 6-8 weeks, you'll fully have to medication working for you, but it always takes time. If you feel bad, it may be that reason.

Anne, I have been on the meds for longer than that time. The meds stopped working for me after I spent a night drinking alcohol
