I've been doing a bit of research and put together a list of supplements that may help with anxiety, depression, mental clarity/focus, energy levels, help cure immune diseases, reduce inflammation and improve joint health and neural efficiency. I will be taking them on a relatively blank canvas (Just Pristiq, an SNRI) one at a time until I can note differences, then after documenting my findings I will experiment with different combinations until I arrive at a combination that works best for me. I may even try tapering off of Pristiq with GP guidance, as I'd rather use supplements and herbs than pharmaceuticals.
When combined, the net results of this cocktail should help with anxiety and panic disorders, depression, chronic fatigue/wired but tired, ADHD, sleeping disorders, gastro-intestinal issues like IBD, IBS, Crohn's, Colitis etc. and basically any problem resulting from body wide chronic inflammation. I'm even hoping to experience improvements to CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - a nerve entrapment/inflammation issue), bursitis and tendonitis - all problems shared between myself and my wife. I also have knee problems. Glucosamine assists with the production of synovial fluid fortunately.
Suntheanine L-theanine 150 mg
5-hydroxy L-tryptophan with vitamin B6 and C
N-Acetly-Glucosamine 700mg
Vitamin D3 10,000iu
High Absorbsion CoQ10 200mg
Super Omega-3, EPA/DHA with Sesame Lignans & Olive Fruit Extract
Silymarin (Milk Thistle Extract) 2X 300mg
Tumeric Root Extract (not just the curcuminoids)
An alternative to the Super Omega-3 blend could be Flaxseed Softgels 1250mg
Passion Root Flower 350mg (before bed)
We would also be getting vitamin A 10,000iu and Gentle iron 25mg as recommended by our GP based on personal pathology.
Silymarin is said to greatly assist in the purification of toxins, which makes it an excellent dietary supplement in itself given all the toxins found in supermarket foods, including produce and meats, but for those of us also on RX meds, the liver could really do with the help. I would also monitor your individual magnesium levels, as magnesium deficiencies have been linked to a lot of the symptoms we're looking to fix. Calcium should be manageable dietarily, but if not, then use Chelated Calcium as guided.
I won't go into explaining how the amino acids and other building block precursors work because I don't proclaim to be an expert. This is a hypothesis up for discussion so that the collective mind of the community might progress to a better understanding producing a safer and more confidence instilling "Elixir". To make our daily practice of CBT and/or DBT or other relaxation and cognitive therapies much more easy to focus on and to give our bodies some help in re-balancing the SNS and fighting immune diseases and the artifacts of chronic inflammation.
This is by no means a medically backed recommendation. I'm putting this up for discussion - maybe people here have already got experience with some of these supplements and could comment? Cheers
