Hello,

I've been taking benzos/SSRIs for some time now probably about 15 - 20 years for GAD and Panic disorder.

Most recently I was on Lexapro which because of sexual side effects, I slowly tapered off of successfully about 6 months ago. I also take klonopin, typically 1.5-2MG a day. I have been totally fine and normal with this for along time now.

About 5 days ago I had a very bad panic attack, with this I stupidly took about 4mg of klonopin to try to combat the attack. The next day I had another and not thinking clearly I took my full dose of Lexapro which was 40mg. I have since stopped taking the lexpro. I have not felt right. I have ongoing anxiety, aches and pains, no appetite and difficulty concentrating. I plan on speaking to my dr today I just wanted to see what others thought this might be from. Do you think this is from the 1 massive dose of Lexapro and it messed me up or I have grown tolerant to my normal dose of Klonopin? Or perhaps I am having a replase. Idk. I go away on vacation in 3 days so I'm obviously freaking out.

Thanks in advance for any advice, or help.

M.

You could be experiencing some withdrawal from the Lexapro since you said you had been off it for six months. The body react strangely to meds sometimes and since you stopped after taking it that one time there's a good chance that's why you are feeling that way. Glad to hear you are speaking to your doctor today, hopefully they have some advice/answers for you.

Yeah the fact you took 4mg Klonopin then 40mg Lexapro would explain the feeling not right. It'd be a combination of both and very hard to tell which had more effect. I've done this sort of thing heaps of times (I'm not very compliant with medication!) Benzos lose their effect very quickly so you'd definitely have a tolerance for them by now. Don't freak out though, just go back to your normal routine.
