View Full Version : Hey, new gal here. I'm from the UK and I want to overcome my GAD.

Today I hit rock bottom. I reached the conclusion that, "this can't go on. I have to do something to get better." So right now, I'm feeling good. I feel like I'd imagine people who've just checked themselves into rehab feel. But I know it will get hard soon. I have a highly addictive personality and I suspect that in a way I've become addicted to my anxiety in the last few weeks, as weird and as bad as that sounds. I need a support group; I don't really have any friends and I can't rely on my boyfriend alone because that's both unfair and too demanding. So he suggested I reach out on a forum - hence why I'm here. I hope to get to know some of you and I hope that we can help each other. :)

I just joined this forum, minutes ago, and your post was the first I have read. Everything you have written is identical to how I have been recently, especially with the 'becoming addicted' to my anxiety. I'm also from the UK :)

I'm glad it spoke to someone. I thought it was just me being mad! Whereabouts in the UK are you based?

I'm glad I'm not alone with it then! I live not far from Gloucester, so actually pretty close! :)

Hey welcome!
I too joined this forum because I didn't have any friends that I could lean on(they don't really get it), and I didn't want to put my burden on my husband.
This place has been amazing for me & I hope it is for you as well :)

Well you all are not alone that's for sure. Grab a soda or a cup of coffee and do some reading or ask a few questions. Some days are more busy than others on the forum so do not be discouraged if at first you don't succeed in getting a reply.

Welcome!
I'm new here as well, but have utilized other anxiety forums and have found tremendous help from them. I find them to be much easier than going to a group in person.
I hope you begin to feel better!
