Hi All,

Came across this forum on a google search. Been suffering with anxiety for 20+ years , had me on many meds which i have stopped taking under a doctors supervision ( last one was Ativan that was a wild ride withdrawing from , been clean of it for 2 and a 1/2 years ) it's not as easy as people think living with anxiety , even reading the self help books etc seems to help at the moment you read them but trying to put the advice into action when you are anxious or having a panic attack is a different thing. So i am here because my anxiety has increased lately , i cannot figure out why.... hopefully reading some posts in the forum(s) whille calm me down. Or shed some light on why i am feeling this way.

Hi and welcome Keefy :)

I'm an old-timer with anxiety too. Mine is improving though - the biggest win for me was going sober a few years ago. The other big thing has been understanding how the nervous system works and using techniques like diaphragmatic breathing.

Anyway do have a look around. There are some awesome people here and it's always good to have people you can talk to who understand how debilitating anxiety can be.

All the best,
Gypsy x

P.S. Check out anything by Dr Claire Weekes. Don't be put off by how old-fashioned she seems - her ideas were way ahead of her time.

Welcome to the forum Keefy. I know what you mean about trying to put the advice into action when you have a panic attack. I've always been told to try and practice coping skills on a regular basis when you aren't experiencing the anxiety that way when it comes it can make it easier to put into practice. Hope you find some useful posts on here.

Welcome Keefy,

I'm another long time sufferer of anxiety, 30 years or so.

Gypsy has made great recommendations to you.
I can't top that. Another site you may wish to look at is anxietycoach.com, there is some really great information there.

Please do read some of the threads, you never know when something will bring an ahha moment.

All the best.
