Hello,

I will go by PurpleStarGirl on here and I'm 25-years-old and I live in the Pacific Northwest.

It's nice to see a forum dedicated to those with anxiety problems. I suffer from GAD, mild hypochondria, and social phobia so I hope to get information from fellow people having any of those. I was also put on 20 mg Celexa for three years to help with those problems but went off to see if I could cope without the meds while on some natural medication to help manage it. Unfortunately the natural medication got in the way of everything else so I quit that and ended up having a major anxiety attack and have been struggling for the past three months with my anxiety and co-morbid depression and was just prescribed Celexa again today...same dosage but I'm terrified if I take it, I'll end up with side effects this time around despite me not having any when I first started taking them. I guess that's all you need to know about me.

Hey there! Nice to meet you :) my name is Lindsey. I am also from the "rainy" PNW! lol I love it here though!

Depression medications are a b*tch honestly.. they can help a lot but from my own experience they also come with their fair share of side effects of course. I have been on/off them myself..

Welcome to the board & I hope you find it comforting to know you are not alone :)

I didn't even think about people living in the Pacific NW being on this forum. I only say "rainy" because it rains a lot in Oregon where I live for about half the year...except this year because of El Nino and the after effects of Fukishima. Thanks for the welcome. :)

Depression meds worked for me as in they managed my anxiety and depression pretty well with the exception of me feeling like an emotionless zombie (probably worked a bit too well in that case). The only downside of them are the withdrawals when you don't have the medication. It's a pain in the butt.

Look at the west coast girls go! Anxiety goes coast to coast

I am on the east coast but it has been raining like I am in Washington

Welcome to the forum, Purple

In the short time she has been here, Lindsey has been a great addition so she has set the west coast bar pretty high ;)

Welcome to the forum Purple! Sorry to here you've been struggling for the last few months. Hope that things improve for you soon. Taking antidepressants after you've been off for awhile can sometimes be tough at the beginning as the body adjusts but since you've been on them before and didn't have any then I think you'll be okay. If you do have any side effects you have a whole forum of people to support you.

I've heard that having side effects when you restart SSRIs when you didn't have them the first time around is pretty rare. Hearing it from others lessens that anxiety.

Anxiety is everywhere! lol. I live in Washington state. We have also had less rain this year... not complaining! lol I was born and raised here so I just love it. Oregon is great as well! It's almost just like WA haha.

I'm glad the medications seem to help you manage your anxiety/depression! Gotta take the bad effects with the good I guess, right? lol. If only it were easy, dangit..

anyways, it is great to have you!

I spent a few days in Washington a few years ago and I can remember thinking to myself, "the anxious chicks in this state are almost....naturally awesome":)

It's nice to see all the warm welcomes on here.

I still have my prescription sitting in the bathroom and still nervous to take it because I could develop side effects despite not having them the last time I was on the medication. Not to mention my father is trying to guilt me into not having me take it because he believes he knows what's best for me in terms of medicine (ie cannabis. Smoked it for a year, don't care to smoke it again because it honestly made me lazy)...which stresses me out even more.

Welcome to the forum! Let me introduce myself. My real name is Sandra and I have been suffering from agoraphobia and generalised anxiety disorder for a good seven years.
I currently experience flares of recovery and flares of relapse, but I will beat it eventually ;)

I know what you are going through with the medication, although for some people they are needed (I am one of them). However, my dose has been reduced recently and I've been put on a less addictive medication.
I do strongly believe that medication is never the answer, solving the underlying issues are ;)

Don't let someone guilt you into taking it.. You take it because you feel like YOU need it. The chances of you getting side effects when you did not last time are very low. There is a couple medications I have been on/off that I (kind of) like for my anxiety.. Anytime I have taken them again the expectation of how they will make me feel is always exactly the same. :)

That's always comforting to hear about the side effects. I just took a pill so we'll see how it helps/affects me.
