Hi all,
I am starting this thread to save my life. I have been a chain smoker for more than 8 years. Honestly, I love smoking, It’s good to manage tensions and strains (at least for me). But last month I had coughed up blood. I was so scared and consult my family doctor. He diagnosed the starting stage of my cancer and told me to quit smoking. But whenever I tried to avoid smoking, it had increased my anxiety and anger. I don’t know what to do. One of my friends suggested me to seek the help of Edgewood, an inpatient rehab treatment center in British Columbia. Is it so expensive? What are the methods they used to quit smoking? Are there any tips to stop smoking? Please do help me.

Welcome. I'm not a smoker, and can't answer your questions, but your situation sounds scary. I'm sure some good advice will come soon.

Oh god this is my nightmare. Have they actually diagnosed cancer with tests? Either way I guess this would make even me give up. I'd need drug counselling and serious help. Good luck!

E-cigs is the way to stop. Same habit of smoking with much less danger, if any

Hope all is well

Yeah I've actually got one and the nicotine juice (you have to import it here). It comes in all sorts of cool flavours.

Do try the eCigs before going to rehab. I've seen people that have smoked for 50 years give it up thanks to them.

Be well, David.

Very scary, I hope you've had some success quitting smoking since this was first posted. Definitely try e-cigs, or nicotine gum? I think there is an anti-depressant that can help with quitting cigarettes- Wellbutrin? Ask your doctor for help. Maybe you need a Benzo to relieve the anxiety related to not smoking. Can you start taking walks at times of day you feel like a cigarette? Good luck!
