Anyone see that in San Francisco, the doctors are testing ecstasy on dying patients who have severe anxiety..

One guy said he used it when his son was dying to help get him through his sons death.

Ecstacy (the pure MDMA) is really just an intense hit of SSRI meds. It floods the brain with serotonin. So this kind of makes sense, although it would make anxiety ten times worse in the long run.

Hmm that makes sense.. Because a friend of mine tried to get me to try MDMA a million times because he swore it would take away my anxiety. I obviously never tried it. Well, I did try ecstasy quite a few times back in high school but I didn't have my anxiety then

hey brooklynn, have you ever tried any supplements? multivitamins, fish oil, protein shakes, organic superfood drinks, 5htp, Amino acid complexes etc?

ive used them together throughout the day and ive found it helps lower my anxiety!

I haven't yet. I'm usually on medication but I'm 8 months pregnant so I can't take anything.

I do take prenatals though that I believe have fish oil in them

I believe "pure" MDMA is Molly, while MDMA that is cut with adulterants is ecstasy. Either way, I find it odd that they are using it to treat anxiety even if it's far from an FDA approved treatment. MDMA is a releasing agent of serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine. It seems a bit contradictory as the release of norephineprhine can severely increase anxiety, but I suppose if the euphoria is induced anxiety might be ignored.

Perhaps the FDA will begin to use opioids for refractory depression now.

I think MDMA also prevents reuptake while it is effecting the brain which may be why it seems to work for anxiety. What isn't discussed is the yoyo effect shortlife drugs like MDMA are notorious for causing.
