Nearly swallowed or inhaled a coin. Feel traumatized

Years ago I nearly swallowed a nickel. and from what I remember I was home alone and by myself. It was a nickel from what I remember and it started going down my throat, but then I hacked it back up. I feel traumatized because if I had inhaled it, I could have chocked and died because I didn't know how to perform the heimlich manuever on myself. Was that moment really as bad as I thought? I feel traumatized right now

Trauma isn't caused by the event itself, it is caused by how you perceive and react to said event.

Seems like you had a confrontation with your beliefs around death. That could certainly be traumatic.

You don't need other to affirm your experience with something. If it is something you struggle with - own it - as it is a part of who you are.
