Does anyone get extreme paranoia, irrational fears, or day terrors from anxiety?

I think many of us get "irrational fears" from anxiety. Indeed, overestimating risk -- and the "irrational fears" that result from this -- seems to be the core of much anxiety.

What kind of fears have you gotten? How do you make them go away? Any vitamins or meds that work? How do I get into a positive mind set?

yes, thats part of severe anxiety. stretch a lot, MBCT, prayer, healthy diet and just letting that wave of irrational fear pass knowing that it always does until it looses its power. I know this is not a magical answer that will cure all but I hope it helps a little, it did for me.
Blessings!

Honesty, there are no easy answers. Vitamins are not very useful, in my opinion. The medical evidence for them, if you eat a healthy diet and do not have any deficiencies, is pretty weak. And there are risks as well as benefits. Meds can be helpful, depending on your situation. Therapy can be extremely useful. A personal commitment to get better, and a willingness to work very hard at it, helps a lot. I have some health fears. But I have decided that I am not willing to let them control me or ruin my life. For me, CBT was helpful.

additonally, prayer and my faith in Jesus Christ has been my overall rock and fortitude during the hardest times of the breakdown.
Had to share that...lol

If someone here has found praying to a particular person to help with their anxiety, that is great. Whether it is Jesus or David Koresh or Joseph Smith or Barney the Dinosaur -- if it works for you, that is cool. But we should not be using this board to proselytize.

Mike Castillo, thank you. You gave me major relief. This must be severe anxiety. I hope it goes away soon. I need to start stretching, what is MBCT? I have began to pray more, eating healthy, and slowly starting to exercise. Irrational fears are scary! I hope it looses powers a.s.a.p! It was a great answer, thank you! It did help. Blessings back to you.

Kuma, mine are health fears as well. All of my fears are about my health. Health anxiety is real, and scary! What is CBT? Any meds that you found that work?

Kuma, Mike Castillo didn't do anything wrong. He gave his opinion. He wasn't tell me what I have to believe in. He is attempting to convert me. That was an extreme comment.

Thank you Mike. I have heard prayer has really helped, and I will continue to. I appreciate you sharing!

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. A very practical, relatively short term therapy that focuses on changing ways of thinking. Meds can help and I have taken some. But I don't like to recommend them because I don't have medical qualifications. Some take benzos (usually for short term relief of acute anxiety), SSRIs (often longer term), occasionally beta blockers. And there are some others. But you need to consult with a doctor about meds.

Do you have to see a therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist to do this CBT? What makes this come on? What are the triggers? Can they be avoided? Why has mine gotten worse, out of no where?

There are some books and worksheets, etc. that enable people to try to do CBT without a therapist, but I think it works better with a therapist. Does not need to be a psychiatrist, but should be someone with substantial experience in CBT, as it is different than other forms of psychotherapy. In another thread, in the General Forum, I posted several links that have good descriptions of CBT. Good luck.
