My Doctor has prescribed me Citalopram 20mg. I know a fair amount about this medication but I have never taken anti-depressants.
If anyone at all could share their own experiences of this particular drug it would really help. I have no idea how it will make me feel after a few weeks.

Hey there,

I've never been on Citalopram but I've been on three different SSRIs (Prozac, Zoloft and Lexapro) and an SNRI (Effexor). So I've got a pretty good idea of what Citalopram is like.

They all seem to make your anxiety worse at first unfortunately. Some people also get an upset stomach and other physical symptoms. That lasts for a couple of weeks. Then it can take another couple of weeks before you actually feel better. I've had to wait eight weeks before the meds kicked in. So these are not short-term meds but I always advise people to give them a chance because they can make a massive difference to how you feel. You generally feel way more confident, happier and more motivated. They've pulled me out of some very dark times.

Good luck..

Hey, thanks for the info! I am worried about taking them because right at the minute I'm not too bad but I don't know how long that will last. If I have another really bad episode then I will give them a try, but for the next few days I'm going to walk more, eat more and drink more water. But I shall give them a go! Thanks :)

No worries. That sounds like a good plan :)
