Has anyone gained weight from taking Lexapro?

I found this on one of the websites I do some research on for my job:

Common Lexapro side effects may include:

drowsiness, tired feeling;
sleep problems (insomnia);
vision changes;
mild nausea, gas, heartburn, upset stomach, constipation;
weight changes;
decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; or
increased sweating.

Thanks Kixxi! Lexapro works great for me, but I gained weight when I increased the dose. Just need to be more disciplined...

Have you noticed any change in appetite or eating pattern? I gained over sixty pounds on Zoloft, but I was eating a lot more and was lethargic due to the medication.
I changed my eating, stayed away from sugar and caffeine (for obvious reasons), started doing yoga and weights and I tell you, the weight was melting away. I still have some to go, but it can be handled, that was basically the point I was trying to get at lol.

On most anti-anxiety and anti depressants, isn't weight gain just a sign that you are relieved of anxiety or symptoms of depression and therefore more likely to enjoy eating and letting down your guard to allow the body to enjoy consuming tons of delicious calories. Otherwise exercise should help eliminate the weight gain, but it takes discipline and hard work. Otherwise the weight gain will probably get a lot worse. I exercise a lot to counter act these side effects too. Working out at my gym is like a 2nd PM job for me.......I am really happy that my anti-depressant doesn't make me too lethargic. I kind of requested an AD that definately helped to boost my Energy levels. It really helps. Only at night I am stuck.....taking a chill pill to come down from the High Energy of the Wellbutrin. Otherwise totally cool, except for the skipped periods due to hyperactivity and gym workouts interfering with my periods. But I could care less, I hated my periods Anyway.............

I think that is part of it. Anxiety makes me not want to eat. I used to walk more too.

I have gained weight from going off Lexapro. The withdrawals are a nightmare and the last thing i can do is go work out, I'm lucky just to make it through work most days.

I was so bad when I came off I had to go back on....extreme anxiety and some depression. What were your symptoms?
