Howdy I'm Amice. I've been feeling terrible and "off" lately. I'm almost positive that it's anxiety but I havea do ctors appointment soon. I think bullet points are easier to read as opposed to long paragraphs. So here:

-I'm a teacher so I'm always stressed and busy.
-I've always been the shy introvert girl that doesn't like being in front of a lot of people (kids are different).
-My mom passed away about a year ago. That was and still is very hard.
-I have been feeling anxious(?) lately. Shortness of breath, chest feels weird, constipation, nauseous, feeling like I can't calm down, and I can't focus. Even my vision seems off.
-It's always worse when I'm home from work in the evenings. It gets to the point that I just take a melatonin and go to sleep.
-I think it started at the end of December. My mom's birthday was 12/30. I was sad of course, but I was also reaaaaally upset about new years. I didn't want 2014 to end because I knew that was the last year I had with my mom.

I just want to know if this is "normal" and if going to the doctor will help me feel like myself again.

Going to a doctor or therapist is a good first step to understand your anxiety. And yes, you are probably "normal". Whatever definition that might be!

My anxiety used to be even worse, occasionally I'll feel like 80% for a few days and life will be enjoyable. But more often than not, I'm really dizzy all day, even if I don't have any anxious thoughts, if I exercise it feels like I'm out of breathe and it's scary, I also get weird feelings and pains in my chest. A lot of times my heart will beat harder than normal for a few beats and it freaks me out too, it's very hard to focus on anything. I've had all the tests done as far as health goes, I'm 18 and have no heart problems or anything like that. But still it feels like I'm about to die quite often.

Hey Amice,

That sounds really rough. Probably best to check in with a doctor to make sure the shortness of breath, chest weirdness, etc. isn't something physical. Once physical stuff is ruled out, a therapist might be really helpful.
