Nightmares on Lexapro

So I've been on this stuff for a couple of weeks now, nearly three, and last night was really rough. I slept through but I had very frightening and morbid nightmares... for example I was in a situation where someone was trying to hurt me so I stabbed him with a steak knife straight in the guts... and then I dreamed I was at home and my mate came over and he raped me, which was then followed by my husband murdering him... This stuff is dark and I have never had nightmares like this before... Is this a side effect of my medication or did I just have a really bad night >.<

I take it with no problems. It may be making your dreams more vivid and memorable. Buspar did that for me.
