Hi there. This is my first time posting here. I'm 21 years old and my younger brother passed away this year. Ever since then i have had mostly terrible anxiety. I'm trying to learn to control it more and i feel I am getting better at it but there are some days where i just want to lay down and quit. I look forward to getting to know people on these boards. It's good to know that there's people out there going what I'm going through

Hi Mike and Welcome,

Sorry to hear about your brother. Yes, it's times when we're under stress that any underlying anxiety comes to the surface. It happens like this unfortunately.

I'm sure you'll find your way through. Just try and accept it and work to understand what's going on as much as possible. It's a natural thing and it's the worrying about and trying to fight it that keeps adding fuel to the fire. When we're good at relaxing and letting the fight-or-flight chemicals fade away of their own accord the anxiety comes and goes pretty quickly. The better you get at that, the milder and fewer and further apart the attacks will be, because you train your system that it's nothing special, unusual or portentous.

Hi Mike and welcome to the forum.
I am very sorry to hear about your brother.
They say time heals all wounds but sometimes when a traumatic event happens it is like time stands still. I hope that the forum will help you and at the very least let you see that you are not alone.
