Hi,
I have OCD, which is an anxiety disorder. I used to have "hard" panic attacks and high anxiety, but I'm getting better now, thanks to medication and psychotherapy. I'm not 100% better, though.
I also can't shut down my brain, and have been on anti-psychotics. (This was a shallow way of putting things, I can explain better if you want to.)
I joined this forum because I would like to meet people who can understand me, and that I can understand. I don't wanna feel alone.
Hope to have a good time here, and talk about my problems :)
Also hope I can help other people.

Hi and Welcome,

You're definitely not alone. I'm sure there will be plenty of people here who can benefit from your experience.

I've some mild OCD but nothing severe. My main issue is agoraphobia, but I do have pathological counting disease <-- made up name, and I am unable to go up or down stairs without counting them, and can't talk to anyone while I'm doing it for fear of losing count. If I am interrupted I'd have to go back to the beginning and start all over again.

It's not so much OCD as an indulgence so as to distract me from the other things going on.

Glad you're on the mend.

R.

I am on anti-psychotics too.
They give me a better quality of life, daily.
Have a great day friend!

Thanks guys!
Ryker, that stair counting obsession should not be "not taken seriously". If it has the ability of ruining part of your day (for example, you can get late to work because you had to go back and count the stairs again) then it should be treated. I'm sure you can overcome it :)

Hi Tosta,

it's OK, I allow myself a few obsessions and bizarre rules here and there because they're potentially a great coping mechanism. Imagine, for an agoraphobe in a busy mall to be afforded a just few seconds of total absence of intrusion from the surrounding noise and fear, just by obsessively counting stairs - it's like a holiday.

That's a good way to put it. It takes your focus away from what really bothers you, I guess.
