Hello, my name is Melissa. I suffer severe anxiety that generally leaves me housebound. When I do go out, like into the grocery store, it generally ends with me in tears due to a panic attack. I am so sick of feeling the way I do, and often feel like I am a waste. I hope to be able to connect with others via this forum.
so howdy all :)

Thanks Surfside - I've been on an upswing lately, but it comes and goes .... It's quite a process. I think many can agree that anxiety is Horrid.

Melissa- you say you are sick of feeling the way you do. I may be misguided, but I actually regard that as a good sign. I think the people who are "really tired of it" and determined to feel better have a better chance of overcoming their anxiety than those who are resigned to it.

I know that I am just not willing to let this screw up my life. It is hard, but it will NOT defeat me. And it won't beat you either.

Have you sought some counseling or other help?

Anxiety sucks, but plenty of people have overcome it. And you can too....

Kuma - That's a good point, I hadn't thought of it that way.
I don't want it to defeat me, but I know it will be a hard battle to regain some form of normalcy again in my life.
I am currently in counselling and it's done wonders (which is how I came to seek out an anxiety forum).
