Researchers have identified the link between depression, stress and anxiety. Their analysis identified exactly how anxiety, stress, depression link by the certain operations in the brain. The molecular experiments exposed a link between two chemicals in the brain. It had been discovered that the occurrence of anxiety chemicals might raise the amount of depressive ones present on top of the brain cells thereby resulting in unusual signals.

For me it's simpler than that. If your amygdala is overactive it sends you a fear response that is exaggerated. This triggers you into problem solving mode. If you spend all your time and energy solving this "problem" the joy is sucked out of life. You may try to listen to a piece of music but 4 or your 7 brain cycles are still ruminating/worrying.

It works the other way too. If you are depressed, you try to imagine ways to find something enjoyable but everything seems dull. So again, you start 'problem solving'. Maybe I should try this to be happy, maybe that, maybe this. Nothing works and you begin to get desperate.
