I've been having really bad anxiety, Like throughout the day, and sleep panic attacks throughout the night. I can't sleep at all. I also drink alot of alcohol and am trying my best to come off of it with Klonopin's. I took 3.5mg of Klonopin and eventually went to sleep. I wont up 4 hours later and couldn't go back to sleep. Is my tolerence for Klonopin higher because of all my past alcohol usage? I just need some sleep, and I don't want to take any more then that because I don't want to risk a overdoes. I'm also taking steroids/predisone with it because I have IBD. The doctor says it's a okay mixture. But Why can't I take Klonopin's and go to sleep?

Additional information- They game me Prozac to go along with the klonopin's

Klonopins sometimes have the opposite effect on certain people and apparently you're one of them.
Also, drinking alcohol doesn't help matters much either as it has proven over and over to cause issues with sleep patterns..
AND Prednisone will also cause insomnia in certain people too.

I think long-term alcohol use does increase one's tolerance for benzos (Klonopin etc). It's hard to say really because both mess with your nervous system, especially alcohol.

I've been through this and it's not fun. Good on you trying to reduce the alcohol though - if you can manage it you'll find it's one of the best things you can ever do to help your anxiety.

Hang in there :)

Is 5 .5 k pin to much? I've taken 5 within 24 hours and I still can't pass out. How can I still have anxiety....

Sometimes, tolerance will make it work less over tine. For me (when I was taking a benzo), I would need to be switched to a different benzo like Ativan.

Mixing Alcohol is a disaster waiting to happen IMO.

I hope you will be able to control you drinking.

Best of luck.
