View Full Version : Taking 6g Inositol every 2hrs. Any advice?

Hi everyone,

My psychiatrist will no longer prescribe me any more drugs as the side effects are too bad - Ablify, pregablin, lamogtrigine (which worked for a bit then stopped), wellbutrin, lithium, and many others - and otherwise I am left with the horrific lorazepam, so I have looked for other means to stop my anxiety.

I've gone through the flaxseed oil, turmeric, etc, but the only thing that seems to work is inositol, taurine, or NAC, (Htp 5 also works but I'm on duloxetine so can't take it). The problem is, any of these only lasts two hours and then stops, my tolerance for taurine and NAC became very high and I started to become very irritable.

I'm in a real jam, I'm taking 6g of inositol every 2 hours, as it's the only thing that seems to work (and when it does it's amazing), but tolerance is growing to that as well, and the price is a bit crippling too. My anxiety manifests itself so badly that I can't get out of my room, can't wash, eat, all that good stuff, so the inositol has been a bit of a life saver, but it's getting a bit out of control.

Anyone had this problem, know of any solutions?

Thanks,

Chris

It sounds like anxiety has a terrible grip on you friend.
I would get back in to see your Psych asap as you have a lot of different things going on here.
Especially being stuck in your room.
I had tried many natural supplements in the past myself with limited success.
For me it was the combination of medicines, supplements, and added nutrients because the medications will deplete them from the body which proved valuable.
Wishing you good luck!

Thanks for the reply, my friend. I have an appointment with a consultant next week, so will see what happens then. However, the inositol is a god send, it allows me to go out, see friends again, everything, just I have to take it every two hours and look a bit crazy sitting at my desk at work shoveling white powder in my mouth, but to be honest, it's kinda worth it.

All the best to you.

Hey Chris,

I never found that there was a wear off effect for inositol. Even though the dose you are taking sounds like a lot! I am currently trying to get myself off of it because of the brain fog I noticed, but having said that, it worked wonders for me. I got up to around 12G per day and it did help me a ton. Now I'm trying to see if I can get off it and still be fine :)

Best of luck, Inositol is a good choice.

dumb question - what specifically do you find horrific about lorazepam? The withdrawal?

Feel better!

Thanks Moodle, it's a case of drastic measures for me, I'm afraid, but like you said it works wonders when it's on.

JustaGirl - some people love benzos, but it's the feeling of being tired but still quite anxious, being out of touch with reality a bit, it was just awful. i didn't get withdrawals as I would take minute amounts like 7mg every 4 hours, but I know that people do. They just left me feeling sluggish and withdrawn, for me they just dampened down the anxiety, it didn't get rid of it.
