Ladies, what are some of your symptoms that you deal with before and during your period? Ever have a foggy brain, hard to concentrate, confusion, with shakiness and unbalanced?

Hiya,
Well, I had quite a few. It did go down quite a bit when I started on a new pill. Symptoms usually start 4 days before I get my period, and last up to 2 days after.
These are some of the symptoms I experience/experienced:
* Severe dizziness
* Cramps (this went completely with my new pill)
* Increased anxiety levels
* Difficulty concentrating
* Irritability
* Paleness
* General weak feeling
* Blackouts

Hi. My Naturopathic told me to get off of the pill and now my periods are worse. I wonder if I should get back on it? I am dizzy, cramps are horrible, my anxiety is through the roof, concentrating and memory are off, my OCD seems to be in full effect, but more so with my thoughts, I am for sure irritable, pale, weak, no black outs thankfully, but feel shaky and unbalanced. My thoughts are what is scarying me, being forgetful, repeating things, etc...Is that common?

Hormonal changes can make it worse, but this is usually temporary. When I switched pills I had elevated anxiety and dizziness for nearly a month, but after that it started to subside. It's quite normal when dealing with changes in hormonal levels.

I must be having major hormonal changes. Do you know how long it will last? Will it affect you mental when your hormones changes? I wondered why I have been so shaky. Did you have mental changes when you went on and off the pill?

Mam090982,
you dont say how old you are, but keep this in mind. If you are over 40, there are many hormonal imbalances that we experience in a natural phase of our life called perimenopause.
as for your question regarding mental changes going on and off the pill, keep in mind that often changes in hormones can really affect mental or emotional status. You just need to find something which will help you find relief. We are all different.
I wish you well and hope you find the solution that best suits you.
Cheers

needtogetwell, Thank you for responding. I am 32. Could I be having major hormonal imbalance at this age? I believe my Mom started pre-menopause at the age of 32, but already have 4 children, and I have none yet. :( This mental change is crazy. I stress so much I am feeling it physically. Makes you think you are going crazy sometimes. How did it make you feel?

Hi MAM,
At 49 I am in the throws of that insanity! Yes, it makes me feel like a crazy person sometimes. The most out of control PMS I have ever experienced in my entire life. One minute I am good but a few minutes later I can be sobbing, an anxious mess, or a raging fire breathing nut. The emotions are all over the place, my poor husband! Lol.
Anyways, from all the reading I have done on the subject, and that had been a ton, it is often that our experiences and time frame for this imbalance will be quite similar to our mothers. That means for you what you are experiencing could very well be premenopause. Keep in mind that this phase can last the better part of 10 years, so don't worry if you haven't had kids yet, it's not too late if you want kids. I had my one and only at 35.
Something I have found that helps me a huge amount is an overhaul of my diet and the addition of a couple of vitamin supplements. I got rid of all forms of sugar and grains in my diet. This had a remarkable impact on me. Basically if it comes in a box or is packaged I don't eat it. It's tough to do but if you can it could very well provide relief. The vitamins I added were B complex, omega 3s and calcium/magnesium.
I'm managing much better, I still have increased anxiety around the time of the month but no where near as severe as before.
I hope this has been a bit helpful to you.
Cheers!

My symptoms went down after 4 weeks. But I think its person to person really, yours could be going down after a week or two :)
