Can anyone explain exactly what an eye floater is? When should I worry about them?

I am 46 years old and have had eye floaters as long as I can remember. I mention it to my eye doctor regularly and he says they are common. Sometimes that frustrates me more! I find them very annoying, but I deal with them. I also have very light sensitive eyes and some issues with headaches.

I didn't know that I would get floaters at such a young age, but my doctor said it was normal this week. It is something I have to get used to and pretend I don't see them. I have very light sensitive eyes as well. I am sorry you have to deal with headaches.
