Hi guys,

I suffer from social anxiety and it's getting to the point that I avoid going out and almost house bound. I've been passed from pillar to post by my gp and now I'm currently on Fluoxetine 20mg, I've been on them for 2/3 weeks and the side effects are terrible, including increased sweating.

Sweating is my main problem, I can manage all my other symptoms apart from sweating and Fluoxetine seem to make it worse, does anyone have any suggestions with what I can ask for from my GP? This is facial sweating and I know a vast majority of it is psychological and a vicious cycle of fear of sweating causing sweating.

I know botox can help but mainly for under arms, I may look into this but not for the face.

All help appreciated :)

Hi systik, I suffer from hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating disorder) and have been taking Glycopyrrolate for about 10 years now in pill form. While it does not eliminate my sweating completely, it certainly helps quite a bit. The medication is only effective for the day that I'm taking it, it does not stay in my body, so I go off it sometimes on weekends if I won't be seeing anyone. Only thing with it is that you have to be careful when it's really hot outside; since it limits your sweating, your body can't regulate your body temperature as well, so you're more at risk of heat stroke on hot days. I usually don't take it if I know I'm going to be spending the day outside, it's manageable. Hope that helps you! Good luck
