Until you move out, he dies, or he comes god. Only he can say whether or not he's an alcoholic, but if he is he has a disease that will not just go away on its own.

You are in the unfortunate position of taking care of your parent instead of vice versa. But, it's better than ignoring him and feeling guilty about it. Try to help him but if you can, remember to take care of yourself too. I can tell you that people who did take care of a parent usually don't end up regretting it. But remember, after you pick him up, or do what you must do, go back to taking care of yourself.
