I am a middle-aged woman who was recently diagnosed with GAD and started taking Buspar. After increasing the dosage, I found relief and felt better for a few months, but I'm dealing with a very stressful situation and the anxiety has resurfaced. I've been relying on my meds, meditation and yoga for relief. Right now I'm reading about acceptance. It was so good to feel better, and it's disheartening to be feeling this again.

The stressful situation I find myself in will last for several weeks. (It's a home remodel, and my what ifs of everything that could go wrong are running rampant.) I'm trying to sit with it and just be. Very hard. I'm reading Claire Weekes' Hope and Help for Your Nerves while sitting in my bedroom and listening to the sawing, banging and hammering of workers down the hall, fearful of my home never being put back together again.

Would love to hear from any GAD sufferers with advice — especially anyone who's lived through a remodel. :-)

That is a stressful situation for anyone, so it seems to me like you're doing your best to cope with it. My mother's friend, who has NO anxiety, had her kitchen remodeled and she was just waiting for it to be over. Keep reading, keep yourself occupied, and while they are there, increase your exercise/meditation/yoga and maybe even your buspar. I'm at 25 mg daily of buspar but if things get rough, I go up to 30 mg. Then, back down when I feel calmer. (my doctor lets me increase/decrease as I see necessary)

Thank you, Anne1221. I am currently taking 30 mg per day of Buspar. I think 60 per day is the max. I might check with my doc and see what he thinks about increasing it until this project is over. Your response, advice and moral support is greatly appreciated. Glad I found this place. :-)
