I keep getting medication added to my list to help with anxiety and depression. Right now I'm on 5 different medications....that's more than I've ever been on. Does anyone have any experience being on so many?

That does sound like a lot. What all do you take?

I take pristiq, abilify, remeron and just started on luvox for depression and take klonopin for anxiety. All of this and I'm still depressed. I feel like I'm on a downward spiral and the medications are not helping.

I have personally only been on a maximum of two mood stabilizers at one time, but in addition to those I have also been prescribed beta blockers and benzodiazepines alongside them. Has the doctor or psychiatrist suggested any other additional treatment methods such as therapy, mindfulness or anything similar?

I am in therapy as well and I try to practice mindfulness. I also exercise and do yoga almost daily and still have anxiety and depression. I'm starting to lose hope that there is anything that will help.

I take Lexapro and buspar and Tranxene for occasional anxiety..so that's three. Pristiq, Remeron and Luvox are all antidepressants.
It seems like your doctor may be trying to figure out what works for you. If you don't get to feeling better, would you consider seeing another doctor, or at least getting a second opinion? It's tricky because getting the proper dosages is important.

masonmoore, don't lose hope but you may need to see a really good psychiatrist who knows his medications very well and can fine tune your prescriptions to get some that will work for you.

The psychiatrist I'm seeing now is the second opinion...he's the one who put me on klonopin and luvox. I just don't know what to do at this point. My mood is so low...

Well, I just did some reading up on this and it seems it can be a little bit harder for some but keep at it even if you need to see another doctor or two...there are lots of medications out there and different combinations and dosages and one doctor may know something another one doesn't. There are so many antidepressants out there and medications for anxiety but I don't think you've found the proper combination for you. I do very much hope you can get some relief and find someone who will make a difference for you.
