My nurse practitioner wants to take me off of Xanax soon which helps my anxiety/panic tremendously. She says that she'll only keep me on buspar and visteral. Frankly, I don't think they work or make any difference with my panic attacks. I have anxiety attacks at least once a day so if they were working I wouldn't have them. The only thing that keeps them at bay is the Xanax. I even asked my pharmacist if visteral is really supposed to work. He says it is supposed to relax you. My script says to take 1 twice a day. I've even experimented taken 10 at a time with no relief. The only thing besides Xanax that works is Lyrica which I take for pain. I'd like to get feedback of any other meds or herbals that I could try besides benzos that could relieve me of my anxiety and panic. I walk dogs to earn money & when if have anxiety I can't do that.

I've gotten a lot of relief from Buspar, but I do know it works for some and not for others. To really give it a good try, you have to take it 2-3 times per day, give it time to work, and take the correct amount. On 20 mg, it doesn't help me that much, but when I go up from that, I get relief. Have you tried a lot of exercise or meditation to help? Antidepressants help, do you take one of those?
My Psychiatrist won't prescribe Xanax as it is addicting, but he will give me Tranxene, which is slower acting and according to him, non-addictive. If you're not on an antidepressant now, and your np is taking you off Xanax, you may want to give them a try.
