View Full Version : Alternating doses of pristiq
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with alternating doses of pristiq or any other medication with a similarly short halflife. I'm on 100mg then 200mg every second day.
Experiencing intense headspins & high emotions (no reason to become emotional, just suddenly crying for no reason).
Wondering if it could be causing some hormone imbalance or something similar. Unfortunately I'm on holiday on the other side of the world and can't get to my doctor for a few weeks.
Cheers in advance xx

Just curious, why alternate dosages? Is this something that was prescribed or something you are doing on your own?
What I do know about short half life meds is from Effexor XR, and the key for me was consistency both dosage and time of day.

Elsa,
I've done some reading on pristiq and now realize that it is very very similar to Effexor.
What you are experiencing could be withdrawl symptoms. I would suggest if you are alternating dosages on your own to stop this and go with the prescribed dosage consistently until you get home to see your doctor.
Good luck

Thanks Pam,
It was prescribed by my doctor. He suggested that it would be equivalent to taking 150mg each day and didn't think I would notice withdrawals. I trust him but these things affect everyone differently and I'm not sure what else could be causing me to feel this way.
Thinking of trying 200mg a day and maybe making a long distance phone call to the clinic.
It's all a bit confusing.

You are welcome Elsa,
The long distance call may be money well spent. My instincts tell me that trying a consistent dose will help even you out . At least in the short run until you get home.
But do make that call.
Good luck!
Pam
