Hi there,

just thought I'd say hello and tell you a little bit about me.

I'm 31 and until 1 year ago never had anxiety issues. Then the day after St Patrick's Day last I woke up with a massive hangover and thought I'd have some coffee to give me a lift. Had three cups and then it happened. An hour later I had a panic attack. Thought it was down to the coffee or alcohol the night before so I cut out the drink and coffee. Then about a month later woke up during the night with another attack. Phoned my doctor who talked me through it, controlled breathing and some relaxation techniques seemed to help.

Started regular exercise which definately helps. I seem to have a control on big attacks but more and more seem to be generally anxious about nothing in particular. Have difficultly sleeping and am tempted to go back to doctor for some medication, but think I can work through this myself.
I've never been anxious about anything in my life before and then all of sudden it's taken over.

Anyway thanks for listening, even typing this message helps a little.....

Gary

Hi!

I think I know what you mean. I have a constant sense of dread and doom about 3/4 of the day. It used to revolve around one particular fear of mine, but now...it's just kind of generic.

Like, if I go to sleep or if I am alone, something bad will happen.

I'm on medication myself, ativan and zoloft. To be perfectly honest I HATE the zoloft and don't take it like I should be. I only take half of my dosage a day. The side effects of a full dosage were pretty bad. I would go for days straight with no sleep, and then spend two or three days in a zombie like state.

Best of luck with everything, it can be a bumpy road, but there are lots of very nice and helpful people here on this forum. You'll see!
