Well that's unfortunate.

Have you tried any other formulas? Benadryl is quite mild on anxiety.

I have both and it difficult to survive the spring summer and the fall with all the grass , trees and a lot of flowers. Jessed is right Benadryl is the one which will not cause higher heartbeat, it is what antihistamines do. I like Nasonex, I believe it is the name, it is one doc script and it is in a form of spray. What help me most is sinus rince at least ones a day. Before I quit smoking it was tough , now is not so bad....

I am a smoker and I know that doesn't help. I haven't tried anything else but natural methods such as neti pot and steam. I need to quit smoking. I heard Zyrtec doesn't cause anxiety but I am afraid to try.

I use Benedryl at night but it makes me too sleepy for day use.

I was never the candidate for over the counter meds, my last (I am at home now) very effective is Ominaris nasal spray, it really helped...

I use prescription Nasocort but I hear OTC is good too and my ENT has me do one week Claritan and the next week Zyrtec so my body doesnt get used to just one. I have severe allergies so I feel your pain!!!

I am beginning to believe there may be a correlation. I usually use Allegra. I only use it when needed. I had to use it double dose about 2 weeks ago to combat a outbreak of hives I got. Since then.... And more recently I stopped taking them again..... My anxiety is a bit worse. I for now am just blowing the clear snot out and suffering a bit instead of medicating to see if I will stabilize again. It could be a coincidence .... But this experiment can't hurt.

I also have Flonase nasal spray.... Could I use that ? Does it possibly raise heart rate ?

Thanks.

I also have anxiety and allergies. I actually have perennial allergic rhinitis, it lasts all year. It does get worse in certain seasons.

I use Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and Nasonex (mometasone nasal spray). Benadryl will only make you tired for the first 3 days or so, you build tolerance fast. If you take 25 mg twice a day every day, you will be totally wakeful after a few days.

Fluticasone (brand name Flonase, now generic) is also good in theory but it gives me nose bleeds and headaches.

Flonase (fluticasone nasal spray) and Nasonex (mometasone nasal spray) are very unlikely to cause increased heart rate because the dose is very low, just enough for your nose, not your whole body. Also, a relatively small portion of the dose is absorbed, most of it stays in your nose. Flonase and Nasonex generally do not cause systemic side effects, and the chemical often cannot be detected in blood. It stays in your nose (and your sinuses and eyes).

somanyproblemss you obviously did your homework:)) I went through all this meds having allergic rhinitis which never goes away. I stopped the meds at the same time as smoking. May 1 will be 6 years. I started to use sinus rinse and it is what help me to control it. I had side effects from all the sprays and they caused excessive nose bleed. All the time. I had not realized being on them year round that they cause them. Constant headaches are gone, I get headache maybe once in two months :)
I keep benadryl for the time when I need help with serious allergies the ones that can kill me in like 20 minutes. So the epi pen in the purse.
i need the advice; soon I am going to visit my friend and she has a cat; I am allergic to the beautiful beasts, I am on beta blockers Micardis plus. Somanyproblems what would recommend for me? Should I start the spray (I have one just in case) or take some over the counter ?
