I use Zofran (ondansetron) on an as-needed basis for nausea. I also find it is moderately effective for anxiety. There are numerous small studies showing it is effective for anxiety, OCD, alcoholism, and a variety of other disorders.

Zofran is quite safe with very few side effects. The FDA approved labeling lists headache and a few other side effects, but many studies actually find fewer side effects with Zofran than placebo, and there is almost never a statistically significant increase in side effects. Zofran does prolong the QT interval slightly, which means it has a hypothetically slightly dangerous effect on your heart rhythm. There is zero evidence that this has ever caused a single problem, and the drug has been used hundreds of millions of times, at least.

There are zero reports of Zofran dependence (i.e. withdrawal), but there are reports of Zofran tolerance (i.e. needing increased dosage). I have taken it at least 5 days in a row and then stopped cold turkey with no withdrawal at all.

It is also off-patent and extremely cheap. I get 24 tablets for about $10 with no insurance. I do have insurance, but it doesn't affect the price of Zofran so I don't even use it.

Has anyone else used Zofran? How did it go?

It should be noted that Zofran is much, much safer than most prescription anti-nausea drugs such as metoclopramide. This is because Zofran has an entirely different mechanism.
