I know this is silly, but I'm scared to take it.. its a low dose of 50mg.. my bf read the side effects, and just had to tell me them! (Honestly, he doesn't want me in meds) Just wondering about some experiences any of you may have had with it?

I've tried it for sleep before and was scared shitless bc of reading the crazy stories about it on the Internet, but it was fine. It didn't really help with my sleep though. So many people take it. Remember that. Also only people who has issues will post on the Internet for the most part.

I've not had personal experience with quetiapine (seroquel) but I've seen great results in several patients.

Don't google too much, like many meds they are used to treat a variety of conditions. And ALL have their side effects.

From the family of drugs this belongs to, it's often the one that is the least complained about.

Hope that helps.

You should be fine. 50 mg of seroquel is a very small dose; I've known people who were taking between 100-200mg per night and they turned out fine. Also, most of the "Scary" side effects of antipsychotics-such as Seroquel-are caused by there effects on dopamine. Although small doses of seroquel barely mess with dopamine (you won't have many "scary" side effects), a dose of 50 mg WILL effect your histamine and epinephrine levels. An example of a medicine that comparably interacts with histamine is Benadryl and an example of a medicine that comparably influences your norepinephrine is Blood pressure medication. So, even though it FEELS stronger than most other antipsychotics (Risperdal), it is not. Its like a mild antipsychotic, a strong benadryl, and a very weak blood pressure medicine all in one pill. Bad for schizophrenia, but great for a good nights sleep.

It gave me a stuffed nose. Very disappointing.

Thanks. I'm gonna give it a try this weekend. (So I've atleast taken it before my next session)

A stuffy nose? Really? (Or are you just being silly?) That's weird.

I have a success story for you!

My mother-in-law takes this every night! She has severe anxiety and now to compound it has dementia.

This med is a god send! She sleeps through the night and helps her anxious mind relax.

Give it a try! The only time you will find it doesn't work is if you don't try it!

Good luck

Thanks. I'm going to start it tonight. I didn't want to start last night incase if I was too groggy in the a.m.

Okay.. so I took the 50mg last night before bed. My sleep was amazing! :) However, this morning I am groggy, and my muscles feel weak. I hope this wears off my Monday because I can't call off from work.
