I've been off and on SSRI's as I prefer to stay off because of the side effects.
I've been on Paxil, Effexor, Cipralex and now Celexa. Celexa was working well for a few months, but drowsiness was a side effect... Starting taking at night and it was ok. But now I keep waking up around 2-3 am and not going to sleep again until 5-6 am and wake up at 7am to get ready for work and take my daughter to school.
And when I wake up my anxiety goes up.
I'm finding myself half of the time feeling sleep deprived... And I'm one of those people who need 6-10 hours sleep... The more the better.
I've also had a close relative recently pass away and also an ex co-worker and friend pass away.
I work full time an have two young children and my husband works out of town mostly.
I am thinking of looking into a new medication.

Any suggestions? My anxiety and panic stem from PTSD, and occurs mostly at night. I get GAD too... But it's off and on. My GAD normally goes down on SSRI's but attacks not as much.
I take clonazapam too when needed.

Any suggestions would help--- re meds.
( yes I do meditation and breathing too... Just need med advice).

Thanks

Zoloft and Paxil are best for panic. Effexor is good for GAD. Sedating antidepressants are trazodone and mirtazapine. Fluoxetine can reduce the hypervigilance due to PTSD. Another med which receives good reviews for PTSD is prazosin.

I've recently started Viibryd which is fairly new. Was on Lexapro for over 10 years. Worked great for panic attacks but sexual side effects were awful. First week of Viibryd had a lot if nausea and diarrhea but it's past now. On day 16 and I'm feeling pretty good.
