I was prescribed Zoloft a week ago today. I've had anxiety for some time now, mostly health related. I do have arrhythmia and am now on a beta blocker to help with that but was finally given something for GAD. At first I was given hydroxyzine which helps but I told my GP I wanted something I could take to prevent my anxiety instead of something to stop it when it happens so she gave me Zoloft. My first mistake was reading the side effects pamphlet. I got scared and decided to build up my tolerance slowly so for two days I took 12.5 mg and was zonked out so I thought for the next pill I would take at bedtime and I couldn't sleep at all. Tried it in the pm the 4th day and still couldn't sleep but took a melatonon and finally slept. On my way to work yesterday I had a full blown panic attack and called the nurse who suggested I stop taking. Am I having real side effects from such a low rose or is it my anxiety kicking in? Is this normal? Help!

I was really scared to start taking zoloft ... But I did it .. The first week I had side effects and felt like I was On a big hang over .. Going into the second week I was full of anxiety still.. I will be on my third week on Friday and I can honestly tell you it's gotten better.. Took a while ... I started with 50 mg for two weeks an now I take 100mg ... They take a while ... N I never read the pamphlet .. They wouldn't even give me one because I am a hypochondriac

I know what you mean... I knew better but read it anyway. I decided to take it really low until the weekend so I am planning on taking 6.25 in the am and pm until Saturday when I will again try 12.5 in the a.m. For a week and then move up from there. I am very affected by side effects.

My Zoloft experience was awful. I was put on 50mg I believe. Already scared as hell to even try it, I did. It immediately slowed everything down. Then when I finally went to sleep I had nightmares. Take that stuff with caution and always have someone with you. Luckily my husband saw me going through it and immediately threw them away.

We'll I took 6.25 mg of the zoloft after supper last night and had a momentary bit of anxiety from fear of the med but it passed and I felt pretty good. I took my 25 mg trazodone for sleep and I slept fine except for a couple weird dreams. Was sort of tired this morning but fine overall. Around 9:00 am I took another 6.25 mg and no problems. Maybe it's just in my mind but my anxiety is much better today. I haven't felt the constant need to take a deep breath like I usually do. Going to try this method a few days before increasing to 12.5 at once.
